Early life and education

Born in Aden to Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Ambani, Mukesh Ambani moved with his family to Mumbai in 1958. He studied at Hill Grange High School and St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai before earning a degree in chemical engineering from Institute of Chemical Technology. Although he began an MBA at Stanford University, he left in 1981 to join the family enterprise, then a modest textile business.
